How to: Set rectangle defaults in forms.
Solution:
In Form Design view, select the 'View' menu and select 'Properties'. Click 'Rectangle'. Set the desired defaults.
NOTE: Using this procedure will only affect new controls on the current form.
1) If the Database window is not activated, activate the Database window.
2) Click the 'Forms' tab in the Database window.

3) Select the desired form from the list box. (The selected form is highlighted.)
4) Click 'Design'. (The selected form appears in Design view, and the floating Toolbox appears.)
5) Select the 'View' menu and select 'Properties'. (The property sheet appears.)

6) Click 'Rectangle' in the toolbox. (The Default Rectangle dialog box appears.)
7) Click the 'Format' tab from the Default Rectangle dialog box.
8) Click on the 'Visible' box. (A down arrow appears.)
a) Click the down arrow. (A drop-down list appears.)
b) Do one of the following to determine whether to have the label visible:
1] Select 'Yes' from the 'Visible' drop-down list to have the label visible on the form.
2] Select 'No' from the 'Visible' drop-down list for the label not to be visible on the form.
9) Click on the 'Display When' box. (A down arrow appears.)
a) Click the down arrow. (A drop-down list appears.)
b) Do one of the following to determine when to display the label.
1] Select 'Always' from the 'Display When' drop-down list for the label to always appear on the screen and printed.
2] Select 'Print Only' from the 'Display When' drop-down list for the label to only appear when printed, not on the screen.
3] Select 'Screen Only' from the 'Display When' drop-down list for the label to only appear on the screen, not when printed.
10) Type the desired width of the label in the 'Width' box.
11) Type the desired height of the label in the 'Height' box.
12) Click on the 'Back Style' box. (A down arrow appears.)
a) Click the down arrow. (A drop-down list appears.)
b) Do one of the following to determine the back style of the label:
1] Select 'Transparent' from the 'Back Style' drop-down list for the back style of the label to appear transparent.
2] Select 'Normal' from the 'Back Style' drop-down list for the back style of the label to appear normal.
NOTE: 'Normal' is the desired selection from the 'Back Color' box.
13) Click on the 'Back Color' box. (A Build button appears.)
a) Click 'Build'. (The Color dialog box appears.)
b) Select the desired color.
c) Click 'OK'. (The Default Rectangle dialog box reappears.)
14) Click on the 'Special Effect' box. (A down arrow appears.)
a) Click the down arrow. (A drop-down list appears.)
b) Select the desired effect for the label from the 'Special Effect' drop-down list.
15) Click on the 'Border Style' box. (A down arrow appears.)
a) Click the down arrow. (A drop-down list appears.)
b) Select the desired border style for the label from the 'Border Style' drop-down list.
16) Click on the 'Border Color' box. (A Build button appears.)
a) Click 'Build'. (The Color dialog box appears.)
b) Select the desired color.
c) Click 'OK'. (The Default Rectangle dialog box reappears.)
17) Click on the 'Border Width' box. (A down arrow appears.)
a) Click the down arrow. (A drop-down list appears.)
b) Select the desired width for the label border from the 'Border Width' drop-down list.
18) Select the 'File' menu and select 'Save' to save changes to the form.
